We won’t give up
until Justice is done on the murder of Journalist, say two MPs
TWO Members of Parliament have vowed not to give up until
justice is done on the brutal murder of Siaya County Based Journalist Eric Oloo.
The duo, Opiyo Wandayi of Ugunja constituency and his Ugenya
counterpart Dave Ochieng have said they will pursue the matter to its
conclusion so as to ensure that justice is done to the family following the
gruesome murder of Journalist Oloo who was a Correspondent with The Star
Newspaper.
Addressing the mourners during the burial ceremony of the
slain journalist in Ugunja constituency, the two legislators want the police to
speed up investigations into the matter and arraign more suspects in court where
they should be charged with murder.
Ugenya Member of Parliament Dave Ochieng has described the
slain journalist as a serious writer who loved his work as a scribe hence his
murder should not go unresolved.
Ochieng says together with his Ugunja counterpart Opiyo
Wandayi, they are closely monitoring the unfolding events following the matter
and must ensure that justice is surely done.
“We are closely monitoring how the police, court and any
other body behave in this matter and I can assure you that as a lawyer I will
pursue this matter to its conclusion to ensure that those who participated in
the murder go to jail,” Ochieng says.
Ochieng says as a lawyer he will represent the family in
this matter if there will be no lawyer to do so and ensure that justice is not
only done but also seen to be done.
Ugunja Member of Parliament Opiyo Wandayi says the media
fraternity in the country has lost a prolific journalist who was an all-round
scribe.
Wandayi says he will pursue this matter with the office of
the Director of Criminal Investigations George Kinoti on Monday.
He says postmortem has confirmed that the slain journalist
was killed hence it is the duty of the police to ensure that his killers are
brought to book and face the law.
“It is not right for a citizen of this country to get killed
in the house of a senior police officer who is supposed to be protecting the
citizens,” Wandayi says.
He assured the residents of Ugunja constituency where Oloo
comes from that he will surely follow up the matter.
The slain Journalist Eric Oloo was found murdered in a house
of a senior police officer within Ugunja town nearly two weeks ago.
So far two suspects who are brothers have been arrested in
connection to the murder as police still continue with investigation into the matter.
