47 schools in Kisumu benefits from foundation’s Covid-19 kits donation

So far about 47 schools both primary and secondary schools have benefited from the donation of Hand washing tanks, Face masks and sanitizers through Mwalimu James Japheth Mwamu Foundation.

Yesterday, the foundation visited Dunga Primary school in Kisumu Central where they donated the items to the school.

A month ago two more schools namely Angira Primary school and Saint Albert Angira Secondary school within Kajulu ward in Kisumu East constituency benefitted from the donation.

Speaking at Dunga Primary school during the donations, President of Mwalimu James Japheth Mwamu Foundation James Aggrey Mwamu said the school has made the number of those that have benefited from the donation to be at 47.

Mwamu says the donation has been so helpful in preventing the spread of Corona virus that its first case was reported in the country last year in March.

Mwamu says the public should be very careful and ensure they observe the laid down rules on Covid-19 to avoid its spread.

“I want to urge our people to be very careful with the Corona Virus. This is because it is still with us and we must observe the Ministry of Health Guideline on Covid-19,” Mwamu says.

Earlier, the Foundation visited Masawa, Chiga and Obino Primary schools and distributed the items.

The Foundation also visited Akado Nursery School in Kisumu East Constituency and Migingo Girls Secondary school in Nyando where it has donated the items.

In mid-January this year, the Foundation visited Kisumu School formerly Kisumu Boys High School within Kisumu Central Constituency and donated the Covid-19 items to the school.

In December Last year, three schools namely Mbeme, Rweya Primary schools and Maisha Academy all in Kisumu East Constituency were the beneficiaries with Maisha Academy becoming the first private school to benefit.

Mwamu has urged the well-wishers to help in donating such items, adding that a number of schools within Kisumu County still require such items to help in preventing the spread of the Corona Virus.

The Foundation targets to reach 100 schools within Kisumu County to give such donations.

He says after visiting 100 schools while donating the items, the foundation will now embark on a program of helping the vulnerable groups in Kisumu County.

Other that has also benefited include Orongo, Buoye, St. Aloys Mahenya, Nyamware, Nyalunya, Nyamasaria, Renja, Ofunyu and Ragumo Primary schools among others.

Mwamu has raised an issue with the academic performance of the Boys in schools saying it needs to be improved.

He says a conversation on the issue should be initiated by various stakeholders so that an amicable solution found on it, adding that a number of reasons have contributed to this.
