Politicians asked to stop attacking judges
following their decisions in court
Politicians across the country have been told not
to attack judges because of their decisions they make in the line of their
duties.
Former President of
the East African Law Society James Aggrey Mwamu says this is a very bad
precedent being set by a section of politicians especially after the last
Week's ruling on BBI that was declared unconstitutional by five High Court
Judges.
He says such attack on
judges is uncalled for hence should be shunned at all cost for the issue of Independence of Judiciary to be maintained.
“I want to tell those politicians
who are fond of attacking judges whenever there is a judgment that goes against
their political believe to refrain from such because it is not good at all,” he says.
He says with such a judgment
in place now the only option for someone who is aggrieved is to move to the court
of Appeal to challenge such a decision.
“If one loose a case
in High Court, the best option is to move to the Court of Appeal and not to
abuse the judges who have made such decision and we must ask our leaders to
stop attacking the judges who have made such a decision,” he adds.
Mwamu says he fully
supports Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s call on urging people not to
attack judges following their decisions in court.
Mwamu at the same time
urged Kisumu Residents to fully welcome President Uhuru Kenyatta during his
visit in Kisumu for the Madaraka day celebrations to be held next month.
Mwamu says people
should not wash their dirty linen in public before the President during his such
visit, adding that should there be some issues then they should be sorted out
later after such an important visit.
He says the President
is visiting the region to commission various projects which the nationals
Government have been funding hence the need to welcome him warmly.
Mwamu who is also the
President of Mwalimu James Japheth Mwamu Foundation was speaking at Nyakoko
Primary school in Muhoroni constituency today where he gave donations of
Shopping Vouchers, Books and Certificates to seven best KCPE 2020 candidates.
The school’s best candidate
scored 405 marks in Last year’s Kenya Certificate of Primary Education {KCPE}
Exams.
