President Kenyatta to arrive in Kisumu on Sunday for Madaraka day Celebrations
President Uhuru Kenyatta is expected to land in Kisumu tomorrow on Sunday for the Madaraka Day celebrations and commissioning Development Projects in the Lake side city and other parts of Nyanza Region.
State House Spokesperson Kanze Dena says the President and the First Lady Margaret Kenyatta will arrive in Kisumu County tomorrow for a three-day working visit of Kisumu County and the Nyanza Region.
She says during the Visit, the Head of State, will officially open complete National Government projects, inspect ongoing initiatives and launch new projects.
Dena says the President will be joined on the tour by several National and Regional leaders among them Opposition Leader Raila Odinga, Kisumu Governor Prof Anyang' Nyong'o among others.
The State House Spokesperson says President President Evariste Ndayishimiye of the Republic of Burundi will arrive in Kisumu City on Monday for two-day State Visit to the Republic of Kenya where he will join President Kenyatta during his tour of the various National Government Projects in Kisumu County and the Nyanza Region.
President Uhuru Kenyatta will lead the Nation in marking the 59th Madaraka Day Celebrations at the new Jomo Kenyatta International Stadium in Mamboleo, Kisumu County where Burundian President will be the Guest of Honour during the Celebrations that will held in strict compliance with the National Covid-19 Containment Protocols.
However speculations are rife that the Celebrations may be held at the Kisumu State Lodge for fear of large crowd getting its way into the new International stadium thus flouting Covid 19 guidelines from the Ministry of Health.
Meanwhile, President Uhuru Kenyatta has appealed to all Kenyans to continue observing the Covid-19 containment measures, even as they observe the 58th Madaraka Day Celebrations.
Through the State House Spokesperson, the President particularly appeals to the passionate residents of Kisumu City to give the best account of themselves by avoiding situations that may compromise national efforts against the Covid-19 pandemic.
