Water Sector Workers Union tells off those meddling into its affairs

THE Union representing those working in the Water sector across the country has told off some illegal unions to stop immediately meddling into its affairs.

The Kenya Union of Water and Sewerage Employees {KUWASE} says some mushrooming unions are busying poking their noses into its affairs and should never do such like a thing again.

Addressing the media in Kisumu after meeting the representatives of the Union from 47 counties where they discussed matters on Industrial relations, Pension Scheme and general welfare of its members, the Union’s General Secretary Elijah Awach said such unions trying to meddle into its affairs should desist from constant interference with the water workers agenda.

“We want to put a full stop and say no more to any invasion, confusion, persuasion or any form of inducement which may divert our focus on the desired national unity,” Awach says

The union at the same time appealed to the ministry of health to prioritize and coordinate the process of vaccinating all the employees of the water sector whom it says are also front line workers and essential service providers against the Covid-19 disease.

It says the workers are heavily exposed to the dangers of Corona virus attack while in the line of duty.

The Union also hints that it will make a decision come next year during the next general election in their political stand.

“On the political circle and in particular the forthcoming general election next year, the delegates wish to reiterate categorically that the workers in the water sector will make a key decision when the right time comes,” Awach says in a signed press statement.
