Ksm Kicks off vetting of CECs nominees
The County Assembly of Kisumu has kicked off the process of
vetting the ten nominees County Executive Committee Members who are to serve in
the second administration of Kisumu Governor Prof Anyang Nyong’o.
The Committee on Appointment at the County Assembly of
Kisumu led by its Chair Elisha Jack Oraro today begun by vetting the CEC
nominee for the position of Finance and Economic Planning George Okong’o.
During the vetting process, the CEC Nominee for Finance
Docket was grilled as tough questions asking ranging from how the County
Government of Kisumu will generate its own source of revenue to the nominees
net worth.
Addressing the media after the vetting process of the first
nominee who appeared before the committee today, the Committee Chairman Elisha
Jack Oraro the County Assembly of Kisumu the County Assembly received ten names
of the nominees to the various departments within the county Government for vetting
in the positions of CECs.
Oraro says they will vet five nominees during the today’s
first vetting exercise, adding that the other five will be vetted on the second
day that is on Tuesday this week.
He says the vetting process is in line with the County
Assembly Appointment Act and the County Government Act, adding that the County
Assembly of Kisumu has full responsibility over the vetting process.
Oraro says the committee is carrying out the vetting process
so as know the suitability of the nominees to the positions they have been
picked for.
Oraro has urged the public with any kind of information
touching on the nominees to give the County Assembly through its Clerk accompanied
by sworn in affidavit showing that the one who has provided the information is
ready to be a witness.
Oraro says after the vetting of the ten nominees, the
Committee will sit and write a report that will be tabled before the County
Assembly for debate.
The CEC nominee for Finance and Economic Planning George Okong’o
during the vetting promised to pay part of the pending bills amounting to about
200 million within three months after assuming the office again.
