We fully support CBC but needs assistance to successfully
implement it
A SECTION of private school in Kisumu City have fully
supported the current competency based curriculum{CBC} but has called on the
Government and well-wishers to assist them in realizing its full
implementation.
The Director of Victory Children’s Home Foundation Francis
Ager that runs a primary and secondary school within Nyalenda area in Kisumu
says they are ready for the full implementation of the new curriculum of
education but the major challenge is funding for it to succeed in private
schools.
Addressing the media in Kisumu at the facility in Kisumu,
Ager has appealed to any well-wisher or the National Government to aid by
funding the school for the successful implementation of the CBC.
He says the schools used to get funding from donors but
during the corona period, the funding were cut and only surviving.
Ager says despite a number of challenges the institution
facing, stakeholders like parents have always stood with it during the hard times.
“Still appealing to parents to continue standing with us and
if at all there are well-wishers to assist in any way, we will really appreciate
such gestures,” Ager says.
The Victory Children’s home Foundation begun in 2012 and is
running a primary and a secondary together with a children’s home within
Nyalenda B ward in Kisumu County.
The school has about 400 children either orphaned or from a
very poor families within the Nyalenda slums.
Good partnership is necessary to realize adequate resources to support CBC in the interest of children especially the orphans and those from vulnerable households in the informal settlement. The institution has very safe, naturing and conducive environment for learning.
