ICT CS helps Nomiya Church to form Sacco, promises shs 1M
The Information, Communication Technology and Digital Economy Cabinet Secretary Eliud Owalo has aided the Nomiya Church to form a Saving and Credit Cooperative Society.
Owalo says this is a good move as the formation of the Sacco by the Nomiya Church is a move in the right direction as it will help the church to invest for its members through the Sacco.
Speaking during the Nomiya Church Youth Convention in Kisumu, the ICT Cabinet Secretary said it is high time the religious organization think in terms of investments so as to be able to cater for their needs.
Owalo urges the Youth to be aggressive and tap various opportunities in the online employment, adding that this is the way to go.
Owalo has lauded the Sacco which has raised about 350,000, adding that he will pump shs 1 Million to it so as to help the members run it will and invest prudently.
“The way to go is to form Saccos and help them grow in terms of investments for the members to reap well in the final end,” Owalo says.
During the event, IT Guru Mark Matunga gave personal donation of shs 50,000 towards formation of the Sacco by the Nomiya Church.
The Nomiya Church’s move to form a Sacco comes barely a few weeks after the ICT and Digital Economy Cabinet Secretary ask residents of Nyanza region and Kenyans from other regions to embark on forming Saccos.
Owalo said the formation of the Saccos is one of the ways for the residents of Nyanza region to invest and Grow economically and have sustainable development within their areas.
Addressing Members of various women Groups who engage in various businesses in Migori County during an economic empowerment program, CS Owalo said Saccos have done marvelous work in terms of investments and has helped people at the grass root level to grow economically.
He said there is need for the residents to get into formal groupings that will constitute the Cooperatives Societies, add no group has gone wrong with formation and well-managed Saccos within the country.
The CS further urged the residents to consider taking Hustler fund loans individually or as a group so as to help in boosting their businesses across the country.
Owallo said the Funds is now fully operational and Kenyans should take advantage of the Hustler funds.
The Cabinet Secretary said there is also the women enterprises fund that can be fully utilized by women across the country, adding that the current Government of Kenya Kwanza has operationalized it.
CS Owalo added that the Government has put in place measures to ensure that people at grass root level are empowered economically through provision of funds such as Hustler and Women Enterprise Funds.
Lucy Obungu from the Department of the Blue Economy urges Kenyans to utilize the Blue economy sustainably.
She says blue economy is not only about fishing but has some components like Tourism, Wind energy production, Fishing and Transport among others.
