Kisumu set to host World Talent Conference in October

The Lake Side City of Kisumu is set to host World Talent Conference in October this Year.

The African Talent University {TATU} will be one of the venues where the conference will be held from October 26 to 30 this year.

Addressing the press during a preparatory meeting held by various stakeholders at the African Talent University in Kisumu, World Talent Federation Secretary General and TATU Founder and Sponsor, Prof. Humphrey Oborah took participants through the objectives, expectations and anticipated impact of the conference on Kisumu, Kenya and Africa at large.

The stakeholders who attended the meeting are those whose services will be critical in welcoming, accommodating, transporting and supporting delegates expected to attend the international conference.

Prof. Oborah has emphasized that WTC 2026 is not only an education and talent-development event, but also an important opportunity for Kisumu to showcase itself as a destination for conferences, tourism, investment, culture, hospitality and enterprise.

“Key issues discussed during the meeting included stakeholder registration and accreditation, accommodation and hospitality preparedness, delegate transportation and mobility, security coordination, customer service standards, tourism opportunities, business linkages and how local enterprises can maximize the economic opportunities arising from the conference,” says part of the press statement.

Prof. Oborah also delivered a message from the Governor of Kisumu County, Prof. Peter Anyang’ Nyong’o, who is expected to officially declare the 30-Day Countdown to World Talent Conference 2026 as preparations enter their final phase.

The conference is expected to be a unique gathering in Africa, coming at a time when Kenya and many other countries are increasingly focusing on competency, talent, innovation, skills and practical abilities as important pillars of education, employment and enterprise development.

WTC 2026 will therefore provide a platform where talent goes beyond discussion and is demonstrated through projects, innovations, performances, enterprises and practical solutions developed by young people, professionals, innovators, entrepreneurs, institutions and communities.

Speaking on behalf of the participating hospitality, tourism and transport stakeholders,  Robert Oyoko, Chairman of the group, welcomed the conference and noted that the sector stands to benefit significantly from the expected increase in demand for accommodation, transport, food, tourism and other services.

He further observed that the conference presents opportunities beyond immediate business, including partnerships, investment linkages, destination marketing and positioning Kisumu as a competitive conference and tourism destination.

The stakeholders committed themselves to working closely with the WTC 2026 Secretariat, TATU, Kisumu County Government and other partners to ensure that visitors receive a warm welcome and experience the best that Kisumu and the wider Western Kenya region have to offer.

World Talent Conference 2026 will take place in Kisumu from 26–30 October 2026.

The conference will bring together participants around one central message of My Talent, May Brand.

As the countdown gathers momentum, Kisumu is preparing not merely to host another international conference, but to demonstrate how talent can be discovered, developed, professionalized and transformed into innovation, enterprise, employment and sustainable livelihoods.
