Western Kenya demands to be Ruto’s DP in Next Year’s polls

Leaders from Western Kenya Region have demanded for the Deputy President’s slot ahead of the next year’s General Elections.

Under the banner of the Western Caucus that comprised of all the elected Member of Parliament from Western Kenya region while addressing the press in Kisumu today, the Members of Parliament said they want someone from the region to deputize President Dr William Ruto during the next Year’s polls.

The Western MPs Caucus Chairman Major Retired John Waluke, Sirisia Member of Parliament who signed the Press statement on behalf of MPs from Western Kenya region said they have the numbers in terms of votes hence in a better position to demand the seat of the Deputy President of the Republic of Kenya.

The leaders say they are doing this in readiness to succeed President Ruto in 2032 when he officially retires after serving his two constitutional terms in office.

The Leaders also demand that the Government finish all the stalled projects within Western region.

They further demand that the position held by Rachael Ameso in the Parliamentary Service Commission be retained in Western Kenya region.

“While we commend the President for addressing the issues of taxation affecting hawkers, we request that he extends this to other workers,” they say in the Press statement.

They are also of the view that the Government should also look into the issues affecting sugar Sector.

The leaders have however rejected in totality the issue of the Crop Amendment Bill, adding that it is retrogressive.

The leaders also want the government to look into the issue of education funding crisis that has affected many students especially those from poor families.

They have also called for well-coordinated campaigns about voter mobilization and registration that is highly led by Members of Parliament.

“We are also reaching out to the Cabinet Secretary in charge of Energy to initiate the Coverage of the places not covered and address the weak and persistent power outages in Western Kenya Region,” they conclude in their press statement.
