Uhuru should have reported the electoral malpractices in 2022 Polls

Former President Uhuru Kenyatta should have reported the alleged electoral malpractices during the last General Elections in August 2022.

Former President of the East African Law Society Senior Counsel James Aggrey Mwamu says this is in line with the Elections Offences Act Cap number 66 of the Laws of Kenya.

Addressing the press at his offices in Kisumu today, Mwamu said Uhuru is aware of the electoral Malpractices that occurred in 2022 and has evidence that General Election was tampered with and he should have reported it and necessary action taken.

Mwamu says such evidences should have even been taken to court during the Supreme Court that upheld President Ruto’s Election as the Fifth President of Kenya.

He says though ODM Party leader Raila Odinga is no longer there and has passed on, for posterity this issue should be laid to rest.

Mwamu says Former Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria has added a new twist by claiming that the 2013 General Election was also tampered with in favor of former President Uhuru Kenyatta and his then Deputy Dr William Ruto.

He says Kuria should also have reported the alleged manipulation to the police and provides evidence towards that effect.

“You know these are very serious electoral offences like the issue of fake spoilt votes that were taken to court. We want to build a clean country and Moses Kuria should make a report and mention those who were involved in the manipulation,” Mwamu says.

He says the winner of those elections is now dead but for the people of Kenya these are very serious things, adding that the office of the Director of Public Prosecution should order both Former President Uhuru Kenyatta and Former Cabinet Secretary to record statements as to how those two elections were manipulated.

“If it is for politics then this is very unfortunate indeed and these are very serious things that should never be taken lightly but more fundamentally the matter of 2022 General went through the Supreme Court and it delivered a ruling contrary to what they should have delivered,” Mwamu adds.
