Legion Maria Faithful
prays for credible and peaceful elections.
HUNDREDS of Legion Maria of African Church Mission faithful
have conducted a prayer session for the country to hold credible and peace
polls tomorrow August 8.
The prayer has been held at Jomo Kenyatta Sports Ground in
Kisumu where they begun with a procession from St Peter’s Legion Maria of
African Church Mission near Corner Legion in Manyatta and walked up to the old
Kisumu Prison on the night of Saturday to Sunday in the morning then to the
Sports Ground to attend the Sunday Church Service.
They then attended a
mass presided over by the Head of Legion Maria of African Church Mission Pope Raphael
Adika.
This is the third prayer held in Kenya by the Legion Maria
of African Church Mission after a similar prayer was conducted in Nairobi and
Mombasa ahead of the polls.
Addressing the congregation during the prayers, Pope Adika
urged all Kenyans to continue praying for peace to continue prevailing within
the country before, during and after the polls slated for tomorrow.
He says peaceful co-existence is very important across the
country and among the different communities staying within.
“The unity of this country is very important and this is why
as a church we continue to pray for peace to continue to prevail,” he says.
He says as a church, they have not taken any sides to
support any political divide but will always remain neutral and prays for the
nation for peaceful co-existence.
Kisumu Governor Jack Ranguma who was in attendance alongside
Kisumu Central Parliamentary seat as an Independent Candidate Yusuf Ooro Odongo
said the element of peace is very vital for economic growth of Kisumu County
and the Country at large.
Ranguma urged the public to maintain peace before, during
and after the polls schedule for tomorrow across the country.
He says the elections will come and go but the entire
country needs to remain peaceful.
Ranguma pleads with people not to migrate from Kisumu city
for fear, adding that Kisumu City and the entire Kisumu County is very peaceful
hence no need to panic during this electioneering period.
He hopes Kisumu will remain peaceful after the elections.
