No illegal demos during this electioneering period in Kisumu,County Commissioner says.

THE Kisumu County Security and Intelligence Committee will not allow any type of illegal demonstration before, during and after the General Election slated for next Tuesday.

Kisumu County Commissioner Maalim Mohamed says they will not tolerate the issue of illegal demonstrations aimed at disturbing the peace of the county.

Speaking after a meeting with all the County Security and Intelligence committee members on Wednesday, Maalim said if there has to be any demonstration during this electioneering, then the police must be notified in accordance to the law.

He says goons do take advantage of demonstrations hence hijack them the go on a looting spree making business people suffer huge losses after their property are looted.

He says the police will deal with such goons who take advantage of demonstration to loot property.

He says there are adequate personnel in terms of security who will be deployed to provide security during the elections next week.

Maalim says they have an action plan to ensure Kisumu County is very secure during the electioneering period.

“We are requesting all the stakeholders within this county to help us ensure that it is secure before,during and after the polls,” Maalim says.

He says they have already mapped out some areas within the county as perceived hots pots and are monitoring them keenly during the electioneering period.

He says lives of people and their property will be fully protected before, during and after the polls.
Maalim urges members of the public to uphold the rule of the law at all times.

He assured the business people within various parts of the county of their safety without need to worry ahead of the elections.

He has also taken his time to assure the journalists working within Kisumu County of their security during the electioneering period while doing their work.
