Baby Pendo’s being buried today as
Hundreds attended her requiem mass.
HUNDREDS of
Kisumu County Residents led by Governor Prof. Peter Anyang’ Nyong’o yesterday
thronged Saint Joseph Catholic Church where they attended a requiem mass for
Baby Josephine Samantha Pendo who died two weeks ago following alleged police
brutality.
Tears flowed
freely from the eyes of the congregation who attended the mass conducted by
Reverend Father Samwel Nyataya who said justice should be seen to be done
following the unfortunate circumstances under which Pendo died.
He also called for justice to be served to all
the victims of the post –poll protests witnessed in Kisumu and parts of
Nairobi.
A woman from
Nakuru County who also lost her child during the 2008 post election violence
attended the mass and moved the congregation to tears when she narrated her
ordeal.
She says she
learnt about Baby Pendo’s demise through the media and decided to attend her
requiem mass because her death has really touched her heart.
“I leant
about the demise of this young girl through the media and it reminds me of the
same fate that befell me in early 2008 during the post-election violence.I just
want to urge the family of Baby Pendo to leave everything to God because He is
the best Judge,” she says.

know that one day people will meet at the feet of the Lord Jesus Christ.

post-poll protest.

urges the County Commissioner should say the truth about what actually
transpired in Kisumu during the post-poll protests.

the County Commissioner should have made an effort to come and condole with the
family of baby Pendo Samantha.
“The County
Commissioner should have also been here with us so as to mourn with this family
who has lost a young girl due to police brutality in Kisumu during the post
poll protest because the Bible tells us to mourn together with those who have
been bereaved,”Nyong’o says.
