County Assembly of Kisumu to recruit new staff, Speaker Oloo says.

The County Assembly of Kisumu is set to recruit new staff as from the next financial Year of 2018/2019, the Assembly Speaker has said.

Kisumu County Assembly Speaker George Onyango Oloo says this will be done so as to help in addressing the issue of understaffing at the Assembly which is currently witnessed.

Speaking to this writer at his office within the Assembly yesterday, Kisumu County Assembly Speaker said the Assembly currently has only 48 employees which is way below the number required at the Assembly for effective service delivery.

Oloo says the Assembly requires about 150 staff which can help in serving it effectively.

Oloo adds that only Kisumu County Assembly is understaffed as Compared to other neighboring county Assembly of Homa Bay, Kisii, Nyamira among others.

“We want to begin the process of recruiting new staff of our County Assembly of Kisumu this financial year of 2018/2019 which will commence this July 1.This is because the current Assembly is understaffed and needs more employees,” Oloo says.

He says the Assembly will first carry out rationalization exercise so as to put its current employees to the various departments they should fit in after which it will embark on the recruitment of the new staff.

“We first want to carry out rationalization exercise where we will put our current staff where they should belong to after which we will now begin the process of recruiting new staff,” Oloo adds.
The Speaker of the County Assembly of Kisumu says they will recruit personnel to various departments within the county assembly.

He adds that the process of the recruitment of the new staff will be included in the next financial year’s budget of the Assembly so as to ensure that it is done within the budget.

The process of recruitment of the new employees of the County Assembly of Kisumu during the previous Assembly led by Ann Adul as its Speaker hit a snag after some current employees moved to court and stopped the process  hence blocking the recruitment process during the former Speaker’s tenure.
