Nyanza cleric hails Raila’s appointment as AU Special envoy.

A CLERGY in Nyanza region has hailed the appointment of Kenya’s Opposition Leader Raila Odinga as an African Union Special Envoy in charge of Infrastructure and Development in Africa.
The Nyanza Council of Church Leaders Chairman Arch Bishop Dr. Washington Ogonyo Ngede says such an appointment is a great honor to the entire continent of Africa.

In a press statement to newsrooms today, Ngede said the appointment of Raila Odinga in such a position will be very beneficial to not only Kenyans but also the entire continent of Africa.

“I am taking this opportunity to sincerely congratulate His Excellency Right Honorable Raila Odinga, the Opposition, NASA, and ODM Party Leader following his new appointment as the African Union Special Envoy in charge of Infrastructure and Development,” Arch Bishop Ngede says.

The clergy says Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga should now strive to ensure that he uses the new office as the AU High Representative envoy in charge of infrastructure and Development in Africa to help in connecting the continent by bringing good infrastructural development within the Africa region.

The Nyanza Council of Church Leaders Chair further urges Odinga to also ensure that the position he has been appointed to, is also meant to create Integration and cohesion in Africa as a continent.

“Furthermore, his new position should not bar him from giving guidance to political matters in Kenya as he has been a key player in the political arena in Kenya since time immemorial,” Arch Bishop Ngede adds.

Arch Bishop Ngede who has been feted as a hero during this year’s Mashujaa Day’s Celebrations in Kakamega County has thanked the Government of Kenya under President Uhuru Kenyatta for such an honor.

The clergy says the honor bestowed upon him is not meant for him a lone but is a clear indication that the Kenyan Government respects and care for members of the clergy across the country.

“I want to sincerely thank the Kenyan Government under His Excellency President Uhuru for recognizing me as one of the heroes in the country. This is a very good gesture indeed and a clear sign that the Government respects the clergy fraternity,” Ngede further says.
