Onjiko/Awasi ward residents to get a public hospital, says MCA.

THE RESIDENTS of Onjiko/Awasi Ward within Kisumu County will have an established Public Health facility within the ward, Area Member of the County Assembly has said.

Onjiko/Awasi ward Representative Otieno Ngeta says the Public health facility will be funded by the County Government of Kisumu through the Ward Development Fund beginning next year of 2019.

Addressing the Mourners during the funeral service of Mama Prisca Ayieko at Kowuor Village of Kakmie Sub-location within the ward, Ngeta said there will be first a process of public participation where views of the residents within the ward will be sought before the project is implemented.

Ngeta says what has prompted the idea of establishing a public health facility within the ward is farthest the residents currently are with a public health facility which is in Ahero ward several kilometers as they seek health services.

The Member of the County Assembly says by establishing the health facility, it will make the residents to easily access the health services which is now a devolved function to the county Government.

“When your opinion will be needed as the residents of this ward on the issue of establishing a public health facility, please come out in large numbers so that you present your views during the public participation process which must be there before the commencement of such a project,” Ngeta says.

He says the hospital should be established in a central place within the ward where all the residents from various sub-locations can access it easily, adding that the residents will agree on a central place to do such a project.

The MCA says plans are also underway to upgrade the roads within the Kakmie Sub-location and other sub-locations within the ward, adding that already upgrading of some roads within the ward is ongoing so as to ensure that there is easy accessibility.
