16-year-old boy seeks justice as claims of three women defiling him emerges

A Middle-aged woman in Kisumu County is seeking justice for his partially mentally challenged son whom she claims three women have been sexually abusing him.

Celine Anyango who hails from Ng'ope Village in South West Nyakach Location claims that three women from different homesteads have been defiling her 16 year old boy on several occasions within the said village.

Addressing the press in Kisumu today where she explained her son's predicament in his presence, Anyango said she was informed by a village elder who brought the matter to her attention.

She claims that after getting such a report, she attempted to make a report to the area chief on October 30 this year.

"When I got this report, I tried to ask my son who has admitted that he has been sexually abused by some three women who comes within the village and I decided to interrogate him further," said Anyango who spoke in Luo during the media interview.

Anyango further claims that the Chief turned her away while saying he could not write a letter about the said boy on the report on his alleged defilement.

She says the administrator later wrote that letter on November 27 this year nearly a month and half after pressure from some children's rights organization who have been following up the matter.

According to Anyango, one of the women who has been accused of sexually abusing her son has been doing this after she allegedly lured him to go and do her some manual jobs at her home, adding that one of them is aged about 45 years.

She says the victim narrated to her that at one point he was forced into the act while in a forest where he had gone to help one of the suspects to prepare logs that would later be turned into charcoal after burning it.

Anyango claims that the two other suspects who have also committed the act are a mother-in-law and her daughter-in-law who have equally sexually abused her son at different intervals on different occasions.

Anyango who has sought an assessment test about her son at Joyland Special School says his mental status has made him not going through formal education.

The Boy(Name withheld) who also spoke to the press indeed confirmed that the three suspects have been luring him to have sex with him whenever they call him to do some manual jobs which they should pay him money.

He claims the women normally carerase him before forcing him into the act which they have been luring him into.

The Chief of South West Nyakach Location Calleb Owako who spoke to the press on phone denied the allegation that he frustrated the boy's mother who sought assistance from her.

He says he wrote a letter on November 27 this year and referred the matter reported to the Children's office.

"I had referred that matter to the Department of Children affairs," he said.

Peter Alando, a human Rights Activist from Nyando whom accompanied the Boy to the Assessment Center has condemned the act saying the suspects have been taking advantage of the boy's situation and sexually abusing him.

Alando says the victim should get justice for whatever has happened to him, adding that his life has been under threat after the suspects got wind that the matter has been reported to the Authority.

The Human Rights Activist says the victim should be relocated now to a safe house as the matter is being handled.

He vows not to relent until the victim get justice, adding such like an act is not  a good one to be meted on a young boy of 16 years old.

Kisumu County Children's Officer Humphrey Wandeyo has said his office is yet to receive such a report from his officers in Nyakach sub-County.
