More items donated to Kisumu flood victims as Pwani Oil gives goods worth sh 1.5M

Victims of floods within the County of Kisumu continue to get items as well-wishers continue to donate various items through the Community Coordinated Response Team based in Kisumu City.

Today, the Leading edible oil and soap manufacturer Pwani Oil in partnership with Pramukh Cash and Carry have donated items worth shs 1.5 Million so as to assist the people who have been greatly affected by the raging floods witnessed so far in various parts of Kisumu County.

Addressing the press while receiving the donation on behalf of the Community Response Team to assist the victims of flood in Kisumu County, Dr. Joshua Oron who is a member of the team said the donation is a good gesture.

Dr. Oron says the donation will be directly channeled to the Victims of floods in various parts of Kisumu County.

“This is a very good initiative and we are still appealing to various well-wishers to continue donating so as to help the victims of flood in Kisumu County,” he says.

He says there is still greater need to donate bedding like mattresses, blankets and even mosquito nets so as to help the victims that the flood have affected their homes.

Francis Oduor Ongeso who is the Western Kenya team leader from Pwani Oil says the good they have donated worth shs 1.5 million.

He says the items include over 5,000 litters of Cooking Oil and 3,000 Kilograms of bar soap.
Ongeso says they are partnering with the community to help assisting those who have been affected by the floods.

“Our hearts go out to everyone affected by the floods. Through our donation today, we hope to somehow alleviate distress experienced by the victims. We pray for their safety and well-being,” he says.

Susana Owiyo who is the United Nations Environment Goodwill Ambassador whom the Pwani Oil and Pramukh Cash and Carry limited handed over the good to says the initiative is a good one.

Owiyo who was present during the presentation of the donation has thanked the community response team for doing a commendable job of mobilizing for items that helps the victims.

“We are very grateful to Pwani Oil for coming on board to support our efforts. You have come through at a time when our brothers, sisters, women and children are in dire need of urgent assistance. This will go a long way to ensure the affected have a smile this festive season,” says Owiyo who is also the Founder of Soko Bila Waste Foundation.

Director of Pramukh Cash and Carry Limited MJ Patel they have greatly been touched by the plight of the victims of floods in Kisumu County hence the donation made today.

Director of Special Program in the County Government of Kisumu Ruth Odinga has thanked the organizations which has donated items to the kitty.

Odinga has appealed to more well-wishers to donate more bedding and clothes to the victims of floods alongside the food items.

She has further appealed to the organizations to also consider donating items to children in the orphanage homes within Kisumu County during this festive season.
