Kisumu ODM Party officials welcomes Ruto’s visit, warn him not to insult Raila
ORANGE Democratic Movement Party officials in Kisumu County have welcomed the move by Deputy President Dr. William Ruto to visit Kisumu this weekend but has warned him not to insult Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga during such a visit.
Kisumu County Orange Democratic Movement {ODM} Party Chairman Prof Patrick Ayiecho Olweny says this is not the first time people with divergent opinion visit Kisumu City, adding that many have visited Kisumu.
Addressing the press in Kisumu today, Ayiecho said the Deputy President has a constitutional right to visit any part of the country Kisumu City included.
Ayiecho adds that the DP Dr Ruto has a right to associate with anybody across the country Kisumu County included.
“If he visits Kisumu, he knows his supporters and his supporters too know him and they are free to associate with him and we have no problem with that,” Ayiecho says
The ODM Party Kisumu County Branch says anyone who associate with the DP should attend his meeting in Kisumu and take the goodies he will bring during such a visit.
“Let him bring his goodies because we have heard he has goodies to bring and let those who are interested take such goodies,” Ayiecho adds.
The Party says the DP may be welcomed by a large crowd of people, adding that this will necessarily mean that they are his supporters.
The party is advising members of the public who would not like to go to the function not to go there, adding that the party don’t want people to go there and cause chaos at that particular function.
The party has advised DP Ruto not to insult Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga during such a visit while in Kisumu, adding that this will not go down well with Raila Supporters because the region is considered as Raila’s stronghold in terms of politics.
“Ruto normally calls Raila with all sorts of funny names and he should never do that will in Kisumu and he should refrain from that because this might bring tension,” they further add.
The ODM Party says the region fully supports the handshake that came into being in March 2018 and will continue to do so.
