Addressing the press at Kisumu Central Police station when launching the exercise today, the Nyanza Regional Commissioner said County Commissioners and County Police Commanders within the six Counties within the Nyanza region to ensure that the process goes on well as planned.
Mutindika says most of the police stations are very vulnerable since many people visit such places for various cases hence the need to fumigate them to avoid the spread of the virus which is mostly spread by human beings.
“I direct all the County Commissioners and County Police Commanders to immediately launch the exercise within their areas of jurisdictions,” Mutindika says.
He says the exercise is set to be launched in Counties as well beginning by Nyamira Count this wedneday
Mutindika at the same time urged all the members of the Public to be very careful and always put on their facemasks whenever they are at public places.
“We have observed that a number of people in public do not put on their face masks as they are not doing this for the police officers but for their own safety,” he adds.
He urges members of the public to strictly follow the Ministry of Health Guidelines on putting on Masks and observing social distancing rules.
“There has been confrontation in places such that of night disco matangas where security officers have been chasing away people because they don’t keep social distance during such occasions,” he further says.
Nyanza Regional Police Boss Lydia Ligami says the exercise is called for because those visiting the Police stations are not known.
She says it will greatly help in cubing the spread of the Corona virus among the police officers and members of the public at the police stations.
“We encourage all the station Commanders to carry out this exercise severally within a week so as to help curb the spread of this virus,” Ligami says
Ligami at the same time urge the Public Service Vehicles to strictly observe the Covid-19 rules while on the road.
