Commission tells Politicians to stop the ‘hustler’ and ‘dynasty’ narrative

A Commission has told politicians to stop using the issue hustler and dynasty narrative terming it not good for the country especially at this time of approaching the 2022 General elections.

The National Cohesion and Integration Commission {NCIC} says such narrative should never be advanced as it is aimed at dividing the country on the account of those who have and those who have not hence will polarized it ahead of the next year’s polls.

Addressing a sensitization forum for Journalists and bloggers towards countering electoral violence and Political intolerance in Kisumu County, the Commission says Politicians should desist from such utterances aimed at dividing Kenyans.

Two Commissioners from the Commissioner Eng. Philip Okoth Okundi and Dorcas Kedogo says crafting the words of hustler and dynasty to mean that some people either belong to one side is what is wrong.

“There is nothing wrong with the words like hustler, the haves or poor. Those words are there but the mistake is being able to craft those words in such a way that it tends to divide people that some belong to the hustler and those who belongs to the haves,” Eng. Okundi says.

Commissioner Okundi says such like utterance are not in good taste and should be shunned at all cost.

He says some people are creating popularity which is not wanted by using what other people don’t have.

Okundi at the same time say the Commission will continue to monitor those propagating hate speech.

“The commission will be dealing with anybody and it does not matter whoever he or she is who is uttering words that promote hatred among Kenyans,” he says.

On her part, Commissioner Dorcas Kedogo says the issue of the haves and the have not should be stopped at all cost.

She ask journalists and bloggers not to give prominence to such utterance which are gearing towards dividing the country ahead of the next year’s polls.

“Try your best as Journalists on this issue of hustler and dynasty because there are ways you can do it so that it does create any impact among the people of our Country,” Kedogo says.
