Kisumu Boys Alumni donates bedding to 63 students affected

THE Alumni of Kisumu Boys High school have donated bedding to students whose property were burnt on Tuesday during an inferno that destroyed their dormitory.

President of the Kisumu Boys High school Alumni Foundation Lawyer James Aggrey Mwamu said the Foundation has donated 63 blankets and Mattresses to the affected students whose Property got burnt on Tuesday in the morning.

Addressing the press in at the Kisumu Boys High School when the Foundation made the donations, Mwamu said it has used nearly shs 150,000 to purchase the items to help the affected students.

Mwamu says they are very much touched by the unfortunate incident that has come only a few weeks after school reopened following a ten month holiday due to Covid-19 pandemic.

He says the incident should be investigated and the real cause of the fire should be known, adding innocent students should never be sent home over the incident.

At the same time, the Alumni hinted that they have a plan to redesign the school in terms of structures.

Mwamu says it will start by construction of dorms as well as some storey-buildings that will help the school to accommodate more student, adding that the school is now in the category of National schools hence need serious face lifts.

“Kisumu Boys is now a National School and it is quite absurd to find that there are still some makeshifts like iron sheets structures which are being used as dormitories. We want to change this by ensuring that we carry out a facelift of having modern buildings within the place,” Mwamu says.

He says already there is a plan for the facelift, adding that the project will cost about 30M but may be more as it progresses

Mwamu was accompanied by other Alumni Members during the donation that they presented to the school's Chief Principal Peter Obwogo who thanked the Foundation for such a good initiative and helping the affected students.
