Students told to air their grievances with the
school authorities, not to burn dorms
Students are urged not
to resort to razing down dormitories in airing their grievances and seek for
other alternatives to seek solutions to problems facing them within the school.
Former East African
Law Society President James Aggrey Mwamu says burning schools should not be the
easiest resort by students who have grievances to be addressed by the schools
administration.
Mwamu says students
can seek dialogue with the schools administrators while trying to find ways of
solving the problems facing them in an amicable manner.
Mwamu has challenged
the school authorities to restore discipline in schools and ensure that cases
of indiscipline are reduced drastically.
He says the school
authorities should also embrace the spirit of dialogue with an aim of finding
amicable solution to problems facing students while in school.
Mwamu’s sentiments
comes barely a day after students of Maranda High School in Siaya County were
sent home yesterday after a section burnt another dormitory only a few days
after resuming learning from the three day half term holiday.
The school had
experienced a dorm fire before half term holiday.
Mwamu who is also
eyeing the Kisumu East Parliamentary seat on ODM Party ticket has urged the
party's supporters to turn up in large numbers at Kasarani this Friday during
the Prime Minister's address where he will declare his interest to run as a
Presidential candidate come next year polls in August.
