The Identity Cards registration exercise in Secondary school within Kisumu East Constituency have benefitted a number of students as the exercise comes to a close.

The exercise that has been sponsored by Kisumu East Parliamentary aspirant on ODM Party Ticket James Aggrey Mwamu has seen a good number of students now having waiting card for their IDs.

Addressing students of Nyalunya Secondary school within Kisumu East constituency where about 100 students who have attained the age of 18 years have been registered to obtain the document, Mwamu said they have visited more than ten secondary schools in Kisumu East Constituency.

He says they have visited Obwolo, Orongo, GP Owiti, Angira, Kassagam, Okok,Dr Aloo Gumbi, Nyalunya among others.

At Kasagam Secondary school early this week, about 300 students were registered to have Identity card.

Mwamu further says his team will liaise with the office of the IEBC to ensure that those students who have been registered to have ID cards will be also registered as Voters so as to participate in the forthcoming General election to be held on August 9 this year.

He says the ID card is a very important document which will allow the students to access services like getting loans from the Higher Education Loans Board{HELB} among other Government important services.

He at the same time appealed to the residents of the Constituency who have not been registered as voters to do so before the deadline of this second Mass voter registration exercise elapsed on February 6 this year.

Mwamu who is the former President of the East African law Society has urged the civil servants who wants to vie for political positions to resign within the deadline set on February 8 this year.
