Nyong’o’s four opponents to front one of them to face him off in polls

FOUR Opponents of Kisumu Governor Prof Peter Anyang Nyong’o have vowed to front one of them to face him off in the Gubernatorial race during the August 9 General Elections.

The Four George Onyango Oloo, former Speaker of the County Assembly of Kisumu, former Governor Jack Ranguma, Chief Administrative Secretary in the Ministry of  East African Community Ken Obura Mirenga and the current Kisumu County Senator Fred Outa have promised to front one of them to face Nyong’o off during the polls.

Addressing the press in Kisumu today after a consultative meeting among them, the four in a joint press statement read on their behalf by the Former Speaker of the County Assembly of Kisumu Onyango Oloo said they are sure of sending Governor Nyong’o back home hence will not serve his second and final term in office.

They say their candidate who face Nyong’o in the August  will be known within the next two weeks, adding that they are prepared to wrestle the seat from the current Kisumu County Governor.

“Above all, we are very much ready to meet our political opponent in the ballot,” they say.

They say such a candidate will be able to restore the lost glory of Kisumu and enable the people to do their businesses without any hindrance.

“We have agreed that we will form a new County Government in Kisumu,” they say.

They have noted with a lot of concerns about the issue of voter apathy within Kisumu region and in Nyanza in general, adding that they intend to come out with their resources and mobilize the people to register as voters ahead of the forthcoming general elections.

“As leaders within the County, we are going to a door to door voter mobilization exercise to ensure that all are registered as voters ahead of the August polls,” they say

They claim that some leaders in Kisumu County within the Orange Democratic Movement{ODM} Party are a major hindrance to a serious voter mobilization exercise, adding that those who are already cris-crossing the county telling residents that have a line up in ODM Party are a major hindrance to successful voter mobilization exercise.

“Those who are telling the people that they already have a lineup of preferred candidates in ODM are the ones making our people to see no need to register as voters hence creating the voter apathy,” they further say.

They say what they are interested is ODM Leader Raila Odinga’s clinch the Presidency, adding that they will mobilize votes for him to win with a landslide.

They have further urged the residents of Kisumu County to come out and talk to their relatives to register as voters for the forthcoming polls.

They have accused the County Government of Kisumu for its alleged failure to deliver service to the electorates, adding that the health care systems has grand to a halt and roads are in deplorable states.
