Don’t attempt again to kill Raila, Nyanza elected Leaders warn

Elected Leaders from Nyanza region have warned anyone not to try again to assassinate Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Alliance Leader Raila Odinga.

From the four Governors of Migori, Kisumu, Homa Bay and Siaya Counties to the Members of Parliament from various constituency in the region, the leaders claim that there has been a direct attempt to eliminate Odinga following his firm stand on the peaceful protest across the country on the issue of high cost of living and electoral fraud.

Siaya Governor James Orengo says anyone trying to do the unthinkable to Azimio Leader will really regret such actions.

Kisumu Governor Prof Anyang Nyong’o says force and violence can’t be shield and defender of the national but justice can be.

“Kenyans must be ready to fiercely defend the gains of Independence that the hardly fought for to achieve,” Governor Nyong’o says.

Migori Governor George Ochillo Ayacko says the Government has a fully responsibility of protecting all its citizens and not to eliminate anyone.

Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga says the country has reached a “point of no return”.

Siaya Senator Dr Oburu Oginga claims that he has information that some people from the current government want to end the life of Raila Odinga.

Oburu Oginga is the Elder brother of Raila Odinga who are both sons of Kenya’s first Vice President Jaramogi Oginga Odinga.

“If you attempt to take the life of Raila, I tell you that Kenya will be worse than Rwanda,” Oburu says.

A number of Members of Parliament also echoed similar sentiments led by Minority Leader Opiyo Wandayi who is also the Ugunja MP.

Wandayi says what they witnessed at Outer Ring Road in Nairobi on Thursday was very unfortunate since it was attempted assassination of Odinga.

MPs Martin Owino{Ndhiwa}, Millie Mabona{Suba North}, Rosa Buyu{Kisumu West}, Peter Masara{Suna West}, Dr Joshua Oron{Kisumu Central}, Aduma Owuor{Nyakach}, Dr James Nyikal{Seme}, Ruth Odinga{Women Rep Kisumu County and her Homa Bay Counterpart Dr. Joyce Osogo Bensouda also warned anyone with an intention to assassinate Raila Odinga.

Azimio Leader Raila Odinga who was also present during the funeral maintained that the peaceful protest will continue on Monday next week despite irrespective of what the police will do.

He claims attempts to eliminate the azimio leaders has been allegedly planned and orchestrated from the top leadership of the country.

“A police officer may not have an intention to shoot you but they can do that if they get some orders from above,” Odinga adds.

He says Article 37 of the Kenyan Constitution allows for picketing, adding that peaceful demonstrations will continue across the country, adding that there will be a mother of all demonstrations in Nairobi.
