Preach Democracy fairly, Azimio Leaders tell International Community

The International Community have been told to purely preach a fair democracy in countries within African with Kenya included.

Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Alliance Leader Raila Odinga and his running mate in the last Presidential Polls Marth Karua have lashed out some Envoys from foreign Countries and told them to be very fare while talking about the issue of Democracy and development within the countries in Africa.

Adressing Mourners in Siaya County during the burial of Kenya’s first female Member of Parliament Mama Grace Aketch Onyango, Odinga and his running mate said some envoys are busy preaching matters of development while they neglect the issue of democracy that has been lacking in the country.

Raila says some development partners through the envoys representing their countries in Kenya who have put development ahead of democracy and it is not right at all.

“Democracy is democracy and there is no American, European and African Democracy. Democracy must be measured by the same standard universally,” Raila says

He says democracy must precede development, adding that some diplomats have turned a blind eye on the atrocities being met on Kenyans exercising their democratic rights to carry out peaceful protests across the country on the issue of high cost of living electoral fraud among other weighty issues affecting Kenyans.

Odinga has lashed out at the United States Ambassador to Kenya for her utterance about the Country carrying out a democratic elections in August last year.

“The US Ambassador to Kenya came into the country just a few days to our Elections and we are wondering how the Ambassador concluded that the election was democratic,” Odinga adds.

Odinga revisited the issue of Presidential Election results of the year 2022 that four of the seven commissioners of IEBC rejected while the Chairman and two other commissioners endorsed.

He adds that the Four who gave their dissenting opinion on the polls have since been hounded out of the office by the current Kenya Kwanza regime despite being the majority at the IEBC.

The Azimio Leaders says the International Community should know that Kenyans have a right to question what happened as far as the 2022 General Election in Kenya is concerned to ensure that what happened should never re-occur in 2027 Polls.

“We will continue to question and demand that the Servers be opened so as to interrogate the results there in the servers and we don’t need lectures from the Development partners,” Odinga further say.

Odinga says for the cost of living to be reduced in the country, the Kenya Kwanza Government must re-introduced the subsidies that was removed when they came to power last year.

On her part, Karua says the current peaceful protests across the country that the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance is spearheading is not a one community affair but for all Kenyans especially on the high cost of living that they are championing for its reduction.

“Even in the police or Kenya Defense force, they don’t have their own prices of maize flour and the current high cost of living is affecting them too,” Karua says.

She has challenged the Kenya Kwanza Government under President Ruto to open the servers so that the truth can be known on who actually won the last year’s Presidential Election.
