Governor Nyong’o suspends public demos in Ksm indefinitely

KISUMU Governor Prof Anyang Nyong’o has indefinitely suspended the public demonstrations in Kisumu County.

Nyong’o says after a wider consultation with Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Alliance National Leadership   and the Kisumu County Executive Committee {Cabinet}, all public demonstrations within Kisumu County have been suspended indefinitely from today March 29, 2023.

He says Kisumu County will join the peaceful demonstrations in Nairobi, adding that Kisumu County residents remain committed to the aspirations of Azimio la Umja and its campaigns for a better Kenya.

Governor Nyong’o has appealed to the residents of Kisumu County to work in tandem with law enforcement officers to maintain peace and security in the county.

He says for the past two weeks, the residents of Kisumu County have joined other Kenyans in peaceful protests against the Kenya Kwanza Government over the high cost of living and electoral fraud and have delivered the message where they have expressed their resolution to firmly stand with Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Alliance Leader Raila Odinga in his quest for Justice.

“We have been demanding for the opening of the 2022 Presidential Election servers to determine who actually won the seat. Our people have been protesting the high cost of living characterized by a sharp rise in the cost of food and other basic commodities,” Nyong’o says in a signed press statement to the newsrooms.

He adds that the people have been also protesting on what he has termed at undemocratic plans by the current regime to handpick a partisan Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission {IEBC} to manage the next General Election in 2027 contrary to what is provided for in the constitution, adding that the people of Kisumu County have equally spoken loudly and clearly on these issues and have delivered their petitions to the Government.

“We have delivered the message and expressed our resolved to stand with the Azimio La Umoja Leader Raila Odinga in his quest for justice,” the statement adds.
