We are united for development purposes, Nyakach Leaders declare

A SECTION of Political Leaders from Nyakach Constituency in Kisumu County have today declared that they are united purely for the purpose of developing the region.

The Political leaders led by the Current Kisumu County Senator Prof Tom Ojienda, Central Nyakach Member of the County Assembly Vincent Odhiambo Obuya, South West Nyakach MCA Gard Olima and North Nyakach Ward Representative Tom Nyaoke, said they will do what it takes to ensure that the area has various development both from the County and National Government.

Addressing a gathering at Kogola Primary school near Pap Onditi Market within Nyakach Constituency today during the Nyakach Development meeting, Kisumu County Senator Prof Ojienda said their major focus for development will be on roads, Water Supply , Education, Security , Youth and Women Empowerment, Housing and enhancing Community Saccos among other forms of development.

Ojienda says already a plan has been mooted to drill a bigger borehole at Kogola Primary school within the said constituency so as to help mega water supply to the residents.

He says the project which will be carried out by the Lake Basin Development Authority will kick off as from next week and will greatly help in improving the water supply within the area.

He says there are also plans to improve the road network within Nyakach constituency and other parts of Kisumu County to ease transport.

Central Nyakach Ward MCA Vincent Odhiambo Obuya says talks are already there with the National Government to Tarmac the road from Pap Onditi to Polo Piach within Nyakach constituency.

He says the road will serve three wards that include Central, South East and South West wards.

“Already, our Senator has helped us in the construction of road from Tolo Junction up to Osuo Ume area and we are very much grateful, “Obuya says.

He says construction of the dykes in parts of Nyakach and Nyando will also be done to help in controlling the perennial floods that has been witnessed every long rain season.

The Nyakach Political leaders who were elected on ODM Party ticket have maintained that they are still in the party as its members.

“The recognize and respect our party Leader of ODM but that will never stop us from developing our wards or stop us from negotiating with the National Government to bring development in this part of the country,” Obuya adds.
