We will work for all teachers, Knut says as
Oyuu gets re-elected unopposed
The
leadership of the Kenya National Union of Teachers has promised to work for all
teachers across the country as Collins Oyuu gets re-elected as its Secretary
General in a peaceful election held in Kisumu.
The
re-elected Knut Secretary General Collins Oyuu says his team is ready to serve
all the teachers who are members of the Union across the country without fear
or favor.
Addressing
the press in Kisumu during the election of some of the Unions National
office bearers, the Knut Secretary General said the Union has the interests of
teachers at heart hence is ready to serve all.
Oyuu has
appealed to all the Union Members to fully support it in its endeavors while
working in solidarity.
“We are
here to serve our members who have again given us mandate to be their servants
in this great union,” Oyuu says.
The
election has seen nine members of the Union’s National Steering Committee
members elected unopposed. The Committee has ten members in total.
Oyuu says
the Government should set aside shs 2 billion for promotion of teachers across
the country.
He says the
Union will escalate what it has been doing to ensure that teachers across the
country get better terms of service.
“We must
escalate what we have been doing a notch higher so that teachers enjoy better
terms and conditions of service while serving the nation,” Oyuu adds.
Knut
National Chairman Patrick Muhune who was re-elected accompanied the Secretary
General during the press briefing alongside other national officials.
Tom Mboya
Labour College became a beehive of activities as the Knut Delegates thronged
the venue electing their leaders to steer it to the next level.
Also elected
are representative of the 8 regions to the National Executive Council of the
Union.
