Buyu declares her Kisumu Gubernatorial bid

Kisumu West Member of Parliament Rosa Akinyi Buyu  has declared her interest in the Kisumu County Gubernatorial seat during the Next year’s General Election slated for August.

The Kisumu West Member of Parliament who is serving her second term as a Member of Parliament has officially made that announcement that she will vie for the Kisumu Gubernatorial seat come next year’s polls.

Buyu has served as the Kisumu County Woman Representative from 2017 to 2022 before being elected as Kisumu West Member of Parliament.

Previously, she served as a Commissioner with the now defunct Interim Independent Electoral and Boundaries Review Commission {IIEBRC} that was led by Andrew Ligale as its Chairman.

Addressing the Kisumu County Leadership Breakfast Meeting organized by the CITAM Church in Kisumu today, Buyu said she has what it takes to be the third Governor of Kisumu County, adding that her track record speaks for themselves.

She says she is the best Candidate to replace the outgoing Kisumu Governor Prof Anyang Nyong’o who is serving his second and final term in office.

Nyong’o was elected as the Kisumu County Governor in August 2017 where he replaced the pioneer Governor Jack Ranguma who only served one term in office from 2013 to 2017.

Buyu has asked the electorates of Kisumu County to consider electing her as the Third Governor of Kisumu County.

She has asked for God’s guidance towards her mission and vision to wanting to become the Third Chief Executive Officer of Kisumu County.

If nominated by the ODM Party as its Gubernatorial Candidate for Kisumu County and go ahead to be elected as the Third Governor of Kisumu County during the next year’s polls then she will become the first Female to hold that position in Kisumu County and Second in Nyanza after Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga who was elected as the first female Governor in Nyanza region.

The Kisumu West Member of Parliament now becomes the latest entrant into the Kisumu County Gubernatorial race after some aspirants declared their interests for the seat.

Those who have so far declared their interests to succeed the current Kisumu Governor include Dr. Joshua Oron {Kisumu Central Member of Parliament}, Prof Tom Ojienda{Kisumu Senator}, Nyakach Member of Parliament Joshua Aduma Owuor, Former Kisumu Central Member of Parliament Ken Obura, Kisumu Deputy Governor Dr. Mathews Owili and Kisumu Woman Representative Ruth Odinga.

Speculations were rife that Buyu was going for the Deputy Governor’s position with either Dr. Joshua Oron or Nyakach Member of Parliament Joshua Aduma Owuor now with her announcement where she has declared her intention to vie as the Governor of Kisumu this speculation may diminish.
