initiative in Karachuonyo
A renowned Radio Journalist has launched an initiative
targeting elderly persons who are issued with wheelchairs to help in easing mobility.
The Radio journalist known as Dancun Ojijo popularly known as Jiji Jabritish
of Radio Nam Lolwe FM, has launched the initiative dubbed as Jafwambo {Journalist}
cares for the Elderly and has donated over 10 wheelchairs to the elderly
persons in Central Karachuonyo Ward.
Speaking during the donation of the
items in Central Karachuonyo, Ojijo said the donation has been done in collaboration
with Jonathan Rays of Hope and Leiten AIC Church.
Ojijo who is eyeing the Central Karachuonyo Ward Member of the County Assembly in the next year’s General Election says he has
been touched by the plight of some elderly people whose mobility is not easy
hence has come to their rescue through the donation of the wheelchairs.
He says the program seeks to restore
dignity and mobility to the elderly within the area.
“Some came with walking sticks;
others had lost hope of ever moving again because movement has never been easy.
They have now left with wheelchairs and smiles. Through _Jafwambo Cares for the
Elderly, we commit to serve our People,” he said.
Community members thanked the
Journalist, Carolyn, Rays of Hope, and Leiten AIC for the timely support while
terming it as a good gesture.
The Electorates have urged the
Journalist to vie for the MCA’s seat, adding that he has what it takes to be
their servant.
Jonathan Rays of Hope is led by
philanthropist Carolyn Kisuge, who is also known for her work supporting children
living with autism.
