Clergy urges Wetangula not to engage in campaigns against Raila.

A section of members of the Clergy in Nyanza region have asked Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula not to engage in campaigns against the Nasa Leader Raila Odinga following his decision to work with President Uhuru Kenyatta.

They says as the Clergy under the banner of the Nyanza Council of Church leaders comprising of 200 churches they take this opportunity to hail Hon Raila Odinga for having taken the right direction to work with President Uhuru Kenyatta for the sake of uniting the country.

They say that Jubilee Party of President Kenyatta should work with NASA for the people of this country to realize the true change and development.

In a signed Press statement issued today, the clergy Arch Bishop Julius Otieno, Arch Bishop Hesbon Omwandho Njera, Arch Bishop Habakuk Abogno, Bishop William Abuka, Bishop Geoffrey Owiti and Reverend Joab Othatcher led by the Nyanza Council of Church Leaders Chairman Archbishop Dr. Washington Ogonyo Ngede say they have been taken by surprise following some sentiments made by Nasa Co-Principal and Bungoma Senator Moses Masika Wetangula who has promised to launch serious campaigns against Nasa leader Raila Odinga.

The clergy are asking Wetangula to instead engage in campaigns which can help to bring unity across the country since the country needs to heal fully after the grueling electioneering period of last year 2017.

“The Senator should desist forthwith on his utterances which can divide the Country further and instead should see a way forward on how this Country should be together. Why are the Nasa Principals panicking while the Jubilee side of President Kenyatta is quite yet they are the people who were advocating for dialogue? “They said in a joint signed Press statement.

The clergy argues that it is still very early for the 2022 campaigns and politicians should engage in preaching messages of peace, adding Love and unity since tranquility in the country matters a lot.

“Senator Wetangula should know that Hon. Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga is a national Leader who leads the people and not that the people leads him. A leader has a right to interact with a fellow national leader and does not need permission from any other quarter for him to talk to a fellow National Leader,” they add.

The clergy further says that it is not in order for Wetangula to promise a relentless war on Raila Odinga and his ODM party.

“What Hon. Wetangula and ANC Party Leader Musalia Mudavadi who have launched a campaign in Western Kenya in a calculated tribal arithmetic are uncalled for,” they further say, adding that, Wetangula should not blame Raila Odinga for his woes at the Senate but should see a way of sorting out this issue where the Senators allied to Nasa removed him as the Leader of Minority in the Senate.

The clergy further say Odinga is being directed by God because in the year 1997 when the former President Moi’s government was being rocked by the oppositions, Odinga saved this Country a great deal by allow Kanu/NDP Merger.

“Come to the year 2007/2008, Odinga saved Kenya out of the post-election violence not because of need for grand coalition government but the country was in turmoil and it was in a position of collapsing,” they further add.

They add that the people of this country should praise Odinga for his wisdom and compassion because he loves his country and doesn’t want Kenyans to suffer.

“These three Nasa Principals and the people of Kenya should know that founding father of this nation the late Mzee Jomo Kenyatta and the late Doyen of opposition politics Jaramogi Oginga Odinga. The two are the people whom God used to liberate Kenya from the colonial York. Jaramogi at some point before independent confessed and insisted that he could not take the leadership of this country as the President and told the British Government that he could not do so because of Kenyatta,” they add in their press statement.

They say that now it has come a time that Kenyatta’s son now President Uhuru Kenyatta and Jaramogi’s son Hon. Raila Amolo Odinga has come together to heal  this nation from wrangles and ethnicity, adding that every Kenyan should thank God for the unity the duo have embarked on.

They have appealed for peace loving Kenyans to support President Kenyatta and Nasa Leader Raila Odinga for embarking on how to unite this Country.

The clergy have also welcomed the recent decision by President Kenyatta who is supposed to visit Nyanza region being accompanied by Nasa Leader Raila Odinga saying this is a good move indeed.

They have urged President Kenyatta to also embark on touring all parts of the country so as to help in preaching the unity, adding the Jubilee Government should help in bring the development to the various regions of the country.
