US Based Organization gives over sh.2.6million to needy students in Kisumu.

A United States of America Based Organization has provided over shs 2.6 million to needy students coming from Kisumu West Sub-County within Kisumu Kisumu County in Kenya to help in paying secondary school fees.

The Organization known as Global Interfaith Partnership from Indiana in the United States of America has given the funds to the students through Umoja Foundation based in Chulaimbo area within Kisumu West Sub-County.

It has given a total of shs2,611,058 so as to help fund the education of those needy students.

Speaking during a presentation of the Cheque   to the various students sponsored on Wednesday at St. George’s Sianda Vocational Training Center in West Kisumu Ward, Global Interfaith Partnership new Executive Director Denise Soltis said the funding will help in paying secondary school to 35 form one needy students.

She says the organization is very much passionate in supporting needy students as well as providing social support through the Umoja Foundation projects in Kenya.

“We provide funding of education and social support to the needy students so that in the end we hope that these children will later be able to take care themselves later in life,” she says.

She says this year, the organization has seven new scholarship program hence has increased the funding from 25 to 35 form ones students in boarding schools.

She says they intend to fund the four year secondary education for those needy students and will continue funding their university education if they qualify.

Soltis says the organization supports a total of 114 students in secondary schools in Kenya.

She has urged all the students they are sponsoring to work hard in school and make an achievement after their education.

Umoja Foundation Board of Directors Chairman Pastor Zachariah Kuya has thanked the Global Interfaith Partnership for such a wonderful initiative.

He says over 3000 pupils in primary schools and students in Secondary schools are currently being sponsored under the program.
