Lobby to support Ruto’s 2022 Presidential bid.

A LOBBY Group has promised to drum up support for Deputy President William Ruto come the year 2022 when he will be making his first stab at the Presidency.

The group known as Youth for Ruto 22 {YR22} has said it intends to rally the youth fraternity in the entire country with an aim of supporting  the Deputy President in the year 2022 General Election where he will be vying as a Presidential candidate.

Speaking to this writer in Kisumu yesterday, the Group’s chairman Eric Rabuogi said the lobby will traverse all the 47 counties within the Republic so as to seek support from the youth to vote for Ruto as the next President of the Country.

Rabuogi says the lobby has been formed by the like minded youth and will have representative in  all the 47 counties where they will work as a team.

Rabuogi who was also the Nyanza coordinator of the now defunct URP Party says the Deputy President has what it takes to led the country after President Uhuru Kenyatta’s term ends in the year 2022.

“Having been an experienced politician which he begun from a humble background in 1992 while in KANU, I believe that the current Deputy President has what it takes to lead the country come the next General Election in the year 2022,” Rabuogi says.

Rabuogi says the youth fraternity in the country should not be taken for granted since it constitutes a bigger population.

William Ruto, now the Deputy President came into the political limelight during the Youth for KANU 92, a lobby group that was associated with youthful politicians then comprised of Cyrus Jirongo, the former Lugari Member of Parliament among others who drummed up support for the then ruling party KANU and former President Daniel Arap Moi in the 1992 General Elections where it won against the Opposition on December 29, 1992.

He first made it to Parliament in the year 1997 when he won the Eldoret North Parliamentary seat on KANU Party ticket and later served as a Minister during the retired President Moi’s regime.

Retired President Moi’s regime came to an end after the year 2002 General election when Narc Government took over power under former President Mwai Kibaki.

During the Grand Coalition Government in 2008 under then President Mwai Kibaki and Prime Minister Raila Odinga, Ruto who was then in Orange Democratic Movement {ODM} Party led by Raila Odinga was appointed as the Minister for Agriculture.

Ruto later formed URP upon quitting ODM Party.

In the run up to the year 2013 polls, Ruto’s Party URP teamed up with The National Alliance Party{TNA} of President Uhuru Kenyatta  where he became Kenyatta’s running mate and after the  March 4, 2013 General Elections, he became the Deputy President under the Jubilee Government led by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Ruto’s party URP and President Kenyatta’s TNA merged and formed Jubilee Party where they are currently in while serving as the Deputy President under President Kenyatta who is serving his second and final term in office.

Ruto will be making his first stab at the Presidency come the year 2022 when the next General election will be held during the first Tuesday of August.
