Man accuses Gem MP of threatening him with a gun.

A MIDDLE-aged man has accused the Member of Parliament for Gem Constituency in Siaya County Elisha Odhiambo of threatening him with a gun at popular club in Kisumu last Saturday morning.

Eric Omondi Rabuogi claims that Member of Parliament was in a company of about four men when the lawmaker allegedly accosted him at Barcadia within Kisumu Central Business District on Saturday at around 3:00 am.

Rabuogi who has since made a report at Kisumu Central Police Station via Occurrence Book {OB} Number 42/24/03/18 further claims that the MP together with the men who accompanied him assaulted him.

He claims that the lawmaker and his men chased him using a car towards Obote road where he managed to escape.

Rabuogi claims that the MP wanted to know the reasons as to why he had testified against him in court when the former Gem Member of Parliament Jakoyo Midiwo challenged his election as the new MP for Gem in court recently.

The Court dismissed the election petition and Elisha Odhiambo’s election as Gem MP was upheld.

“The MP for Gem Elisha Odhiambo and his group found me having some drinks with friends at a club in Kisumu where he accosted while asking me the reason as to why I testified as a witness in court against him during an election petition that was filed by the former Gem MP Jakoyo Midiwo,” he says.

He claims that the lawmaker withdrew his gun which he used to threaten him while telling that he would kill him if he could not tell the reasons as to why he had to testify against him in court during the election petition against him by his predecessor.

He claims that he managed to escape narrowly using a Boda Boda motorbike up to his residence within Kisumu city.

He says that he sustained injuries on the neck and his jaws.

He urges the police to investigate the incident and provide him with protection while arguing that his life is now in danger following the threat.

“I am urging the police to investigate this matter and provide me with security since my life is now in danger following the incident,” Rabuogi adds.

Kisumu Central OCPD Mutune Maweu has confirmed receiving a complaint in regard to the incident reported last Saturday at 2:00 pm by a Mr. Eric Omondi Rabuogi.

He says police are investigating the incident, adding that due process of investigation is being followed.
