Kisumu Central MP gives over 22 million
Bursary to 4,200 students.
THE
Kisumu Central Constituency Member of Parliament Fred Ouda has disbursed a
total of shs 22,173,100 to 4,200 students from the constituenc.
The
bursary is set to benefit students from Secondary, Colleges and Universities.
Addressing
the residents during the disbursement of the funds today at Social Hall, Ouda
said this is the first bursary disbursement he has done since he took over as
the area MP after the August Last year General Election.
Ouda
says he will try to ensure that needy students from the constituency will get
support from the bursary kitty of the constituency.
The
Legislator says every ward within Kisumu Central Constituency has about 800
students who have benefitted from the bursary kitty.
“I
want to ensure that needy students from this constituency will benefit from the
bursary so that they pursue their education,” he says.
He
says he intends to increase the bursary allocation to students who will benefit
from the kitty.
Ouda
also says he has put a total of 96 students on scholarship which he pays their
fees from his pocket.
He
says he sponsors the students in form one at a cost of shs 3.2million.
The
lawmaker says he will also embark on improving the infrastructure in public
schools within the constituency during his tenure as the area Member of
Parliament.
Ouda
at the same time says he will try and empower the youth by trying to open up
business for them so that they have something to do to earn a living.
“I
will try to offer employment to our youth so that they get something in the
long run,” he adds.
Ouda
at the same time commended the direction taken by Nasa Leader Raila Odinga for
agreeing to work towards peace in the country with President Uhuru Kenyatta after a grueling election of
last year.
