Give me time to work,
Ouda tells his critics.
KISUMU Central Member of Parliament Fred Ouda has told his
critics to give him time to deliver election pledges he made to the
electorates.
Ouda says it has taken only a few months after being sworn
in as the Kisumu Central Member of Parliament but some people have begun to
engage in endless and useless propaganda against him aiming at tarnishing his
name.
Addressing the residents of the constituency at Kisumu’s
Social hall during an event to disburse bursary fund where over shs 22 million
were given to students in secondary, Colleges and universities, Ouda said he
should be given enough time to deliver on what he promised the electorates when
he was campaigning to become the area Member of Parliament.
The lawmaker says already he has sponsored a total of 96 needy
students in form one this year at a cost of shs 3.2 million from the loan he
has borrowed immediately be became MP, adding that yesterday’s event has seen a
total of 4,200 students benefiting from bursary kitty of the constituency.
Ouda says he has been elected by the people of Kisumu
Central Constituency and he is expected to deliver on the election pledges he
made to them, adding that the constituency has about 120,000 registered voters.
“I accept positive criticism but I want to urge my critics
to give me time and work for the electorates because I still have over four
years as the MP for this area hence I must work for my people here,” he says.
Ouda says he intends to improve on the infrastructure in
public schools within the constituency, adding that education is a priority to
him.
Ouda says his constituents greatly help him to win hence owe
his win to them and will never abandon those who were instrumental for him to
become an MP for Kisumu Central.
Ouda says he has had a conversation within his predecessors
and told him that working as an MP in the area is not a walk in the park
because of unnecessary propaganda being peddled by enemies of development,
adding that he will ignore such propaganda and will ensure he deliver on the
election pledges.
“I have talked to my predecessors and have surely told me as
an MP here, unnecessary propaganda can make you not to deliver but I am
developing a thick skin for such and will ensure that I deliver what I promised
you,” he adds.
He urges his critics to also focus on the positive things he
has been doing within the short time he has become a member of Parliament for
the area.
