7,000 needy students benefit from Kisumu Central NG-CDF Bursary of sh 30 million.

ABOUT 7,000 students have been awarded bursary from the Kisumu Central National Government Constituency Development fund bursary.

The students ranging from Secondary, Tertiary institutions and Driving schools have been awarded the bursary to help in paying fees for their education.

Speaking during the launch of the Bursary program, Kisumu Central Member of Parliament Fred Odhiambo Ouda said his priority is to ensure the needy students within the constituency are supported to get education with easy through the bursary fund.

Ouda said he grew up from a very humble background and his secondary fees was paid by a former Member of Parliament from one of the constituencies in Nakuru County because his mother could not afford educating him hence he really sympathize with the plight of needy students who cannot afford fees and paying for them.

Ouda said during his tenure as the area Member of Parliament he will try his level best to ensure that he helps the needy students by paying their school fees or through sponsoring some as he had been doing since he became MP nearly two years ago.

“As a young boy, I roasted maize with my Mother in Nakuru and after passing my final exams in primary school, a Member of Parliament rescued and paid my secondary school fees. This is the reason as to why I value education so much and helping the needy students to pursue education because this is the best thing one can give to a needy students who want to further his education,” Ouda said.

Ouda at the same time urged his critics to give him more time so as to deliver the election pledges rather than putting with unnecessary criticisms that does not help at all.

He added that he has a very greater vision for the constituency and if given enough time he will surely deliver to the electorates, adding that he needs to serve two terms in order to serve his constituents effectively and successfully.

During the presentation of cheques to the students, secondary schools students got the lion’s share of the bursary after being awarded shs 16,718,742 followed closely by students in tertiary institutions who got 8,883,258.

Those going to driving schools within the constituency managed to get over sh 4million which will be used to pay their school fees while in those schools.

The issue of the Kisumu Central Constituency Bursary comes barely two months after the area Member of Parliament launched the second scholarship program where a total of 40 needy but bright students were given a four year scholarship with each year being paid a total of 54,000 per student in secondary school.

The students were joining form one early this year after sitting their final primary examination last year of 2018.

The scholarship given through the Fred Ouda Scholarship will carter for the four years which the 40 students will be within the secondary school.
