speedy investigations on Kakamega school stampede
Central Organizations of Trade Union Secretary General

into the incident in which 14 primary school children died yesterday in

appealed to the Cabinet Secretary in charge of Education, Science and
Technology Prof George Magoha to make sure thorough investigations done
following the incident.
Atwoli has also appealed to the Cabinet Secretary to ensure
that the institution is fully refurbished by levying the Business community in
Kakamega town to adequately fund such.
“We have very rich people in Kakamega town who can fund the
refurbishment of the institution. In other countries people volunteer and they
don’t rely on 100 percent government funding,” Atwoli adds.
He says the school should have the necessary facilities
needed to aid learning, adding that the institution should have various exits
that can help to evacuate pupils in case of any eventuality.
