Parents urged to take keen interest in their children’s education
Parents across the country have been urged to take keen interest
in the education of their children both at home and in school.
President of Mwalimu James Japheth Mwamu Foundation Lawyer James
Aggrey Mwamu says some parents are never keen to make a follow up on the
education of their children and have left the crucial role to only teachers in
school.
Addressing students and teachers of Kassagam Secondary in Kisumu
East Constituency where the foundation awarded six students who sat KCSE exams
2021 and qualified for the University education, Mwamu says parents play a very
crucial role which should never be left unattended.
He says parents should be ready to support the good academic
performance of their sons and daughters by motivating teachers and students.
Kassagam Secondary school becomes the fourth school in Kisumu
East that the Foundation has awarded students who have performed well
academically and proceeding to the university.
Previously, the Foundation visited Orongo, Kibos and Saint
Albert Angira Secondary school where it awarded their best students in KCSE
Exams of the year 2021.
The Foundation’s President says there is still need to have a
serious dialogue on the dwindling education standards in Kisumu East
constituency.
Mwamu at the same time has decried state of insecurity which he
says has been deteriorating in parts of Kisumu Country especially in Kisumu
East and parts of Nyando near Rabuor area.
He says there are increased cases of burglary and people being mugged
and others attacked on their way home.
He has appealed to the Kisumu county security team to ensure
that the issue is urgently addressed.
Mwamu has called on the full embracement of the community
policing initiative to help on issues of enhancing security in various parts of
Kisumu County.
