Muhoroni MP awards
scholarship to 64 pupils to join National schools
A total of 64 pupils who sat their Kenya Certificate of
Primary Education 2021 in various public primary schools in Muhoroni
constituency have been awarded a four-year full scholarship for their secondary
education.
Muhoroni Member of Parliament James Onyango K’Oyoo says this
is the ninth edition of KCPE candidates who have been awarded full scholarship
to join national schools in various parts of the country.
Addressing the residents of Muhoroni constituency during the
award ceremony for the scholarship within National Government Constituency
Development Fund offices, K’Oyoo said he initiated the program through CDF to
award bright but needy students whose parents could not afford fund to educate
them in National schools.
K’Oyoo says the programs has since paid off after such
students have excelled and joined universities to study courses like
engineering, Medicine, Law, Journalism among others hence making the area to
have more professionals after initiating the program in 2014.
“We initiated this program to help in ensure that in future
we the residents of Muhoroni constituency will have more educated professionals
from home where their parents could not afford taking them to national schools,”
he says.
He says already some of the first batch of the students who
were awarded the scholarship in the year 2014 are pursuing Master’s degree in
various fields.
The Muhoroni Member of Parliament says the program has been
sponsoring children whose parents cannot purely afford school fees for National
schools but not the ones from rich families as earlier been rumored.
“Some people have been going round the constituency while
peddling lies that we have been sponsoring children from rich families and now
you have confirmed that it is not true because we have paraded the beneficiaries
here in a broad day light and you have seen them,” he adds.
He has urged the students to go and work smart while in
their four-year secondary education so as to attain good grades which will
enable them proceed to institutions of higher learning to study technical
courses.
“I believe you have good brains and if you put them to good
use to study well then you must excel in your life,” he further says
Parents whose children have benefitted from the program have
thanked their Member of Parliament for such an initiative while asking for God
to protect their MP.
“We are sincerely praying for you so that God may continue
protecting you to serve the residents of Muhoroni area as their Member of
Parliament because the kind of development you have been doing here have been
marvelous indeed,” they say
Hon. Koyoo has done very well
