250 new revenue collectors recruited in Kisumu County.

A TOTAL of 250 new revenue collectors have been recruited at the County Government of Kisumu.
Chief Finance Officer at the County Government of Kisumu Eric Orangi says they have recruited the new revenue collectors so as to be able to help in addressing the shortage of those collecting revenues within the entire county.

Addressing the press after an induction training for the new revenue collectors at City Hall of Kisumu, Orangi said they have had challenges in revenue collection as well as having a problem with meeting their targets in terms of revenue collection hence the recruitment of the new staff in the revenue department.

Orangi says those who have been recruited will work on a contract basis for a period of six months.
He says the purpose of recruiting the new revenue collectors is to enforce the revenue collection in areas which have always been under collected, adding that this will help in increasing the revenue collection within the county.

He says some of the areas within the county government which have been having a shortage of staff to collect revenue include the Kisumu Main Bus Park, Land Rates, Construction sites among others.
“The purpose of recruiting these new staff is to ensure that those areas which have been experiencing shortage of collectors are fully reached,” Orangi says.

He says the collectors will closely be monitored to ensure that they reach to those areas where collection of revenue is not normally done.

He says the new staff will be working alongside the recently introduced cashless revenue collection system by the County Government of Kisumu, adding that they will re-enforce the cashless system.
Orangi says some of them have been recruited to replace the 141 revenue collectors whose contracts expired this year in September.

“These people will be working under the targets set by the County Government of Kisumu and they must work as a team to help us achieve our target,” he adds.
