An aspiring Member of Parliament in Kisumu East constituency on Orange Democratic Movement Party ticket has promised to serve all the residents of the constituency if he will be elected as the next MP for the area in the forthcoming general elections in August this year.

James Aggrey Mwamu, the former President of the East African Law Society says he is ready to battle the ODM party’s nomination process with those who are also seeking its ticket to vie for the seat.

The political parties’ nomination process will be carried across the country for those seeking to vie as Members of Parliament in April this year.

Addressing the residents of Rae-Kanyaika area in Kolwa Central ward within the constituency when he met them after visiting Rae-Kanyaika Secondary school, Mwamu said his desire is to fully serve the residents of the entire five wards of the constituency.

Mwamu says his major focus will be in the improvement of lives of the residents by empowering them economically, improvement of educational standards by ensuring that proper infrastructure are in places within public schools.

“Our constituency has been lagging behind in terms of development in many areas hence the need to build public hospitals, having access roads, security and improving educational standards and may aim is to turn around this constituency to be a modern constituency,” he says.

Mwamu says he will campaign within his vision for the new Kisumu East on an eleven-point agenda that include Proper utilization of the Constituency Development funds, People’s Driven Constituency Strategic Plan, Improvement of Educational standards as well as improvement of health facilities.

Others include recognition of Community Health Volunteers, Creation of women Village Savings and Credit Cooperatives Societies to empower women, investment in agriculture and food security as well as having a standing committee responsible for the youth, sports, culture and persons with disabilities.

He says if elected as the next Member of Parliament for the area, he will fully represent the residents in Parliament, do an oversight role and legislate on their behalf, adding that currently the area lack representation in Parliament.

He urges all the residents to have their Identity cards and the voters’ card in readiness for the August polls, adding that those who are not yet registered as voters should register within the IEBC constituency office at Mamboleo area.

He says  his full support is for the Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga who is vying for the Presidency, adding that Odinga will emerge victorious in round one of the polls.

Judith Oturi who also hails from Manyatta B ward within the constituency says Mwamu has very clear policies to develop the constituency when he takes over as the next MP after the August polls.

Oturi says Mwamu’s strategic plan that tackles on roads, Education, Security, Women and Youth Empowerment is one of its kind and if fully implemented within the constituency will greatly help to bring development within the said constituency.

Ben Abok from Kolwa Central ward says Lawyer Mwamu has what it takes to be the next Member of Parliament for the area.

“I want to plead with fellow residents of Kisumu East constituency to consider voting for Lawyer James Aggrey Mwamu as our next Member of Parliament because it has what it takes to be our MP. We have seen him doing some development in schools where he has contributed a lot in terms of development,” Abok says.
