Oparanya says all are needed in ODM and Azimio as Party delegates endorse Nyong’o

We need all people in both Orange Democratic Movement{ODM} Party and the Azimio Movement so as to move as a team ahead of the Polls slated in August this year, ODM Deputy Party leader has said.

Oparanya says the issue where some ODM Party officials in some parts of the country claim that they have already been issued with nomination certificates is not there, adding that the party's primaries is schedule to take place.

Addressing the delegates of ODM Party in Kisumu County today at Tom Mboya Labour College, the ODM Deputy Party leader said such claims can scare away some aspirants who recently joined the party and want to run for various positions.

He says  the party will hold its nomination process and will have its candidates to be the flag bearers in various seats during the August 9 polls.

He says for now the ODM Party and the Azimio La Umoja in general needs everyone across the country so as to be a formidable team.

Oparanya also has dismissed claims that he is not fully supporting his party leader Raila Odinga’s quest for the Country’s top seat, adding that he is fully behind the ODM Party leader until the end.

“Some people are busy going round the country telling electorates that I am not fully supporting my party leader Raila Amollo Odinga, I want to tell you that I am fully supporting him till the end,” Oparanya says.

Oparanya says he was there during the formation of the ODM Party in the year 2005 and will go nowhere, adding that those who think he will leave the party will be in for a rude shock.

He says only Odinga is the one who can bring the change the country yearns for when he clinch the Presidency during the forthcoming polls, adding that he is optimistic that Odinga will win the polls in round one.

The ODM Deputy Party leader has appealed to all its members at the grass root level to ensure that its supporters register as voters and participate during the August Polls, adding that Odinga needs to win with a landslide during the first round of the polls.

“Registration of voters is currently done at the IEBC offices at the constituency level and we therefore urge all our supporters to still go there and get registered as voter for the forthcoming polls.

Meanwhile, the ODM delegates have fully endorsed Kisumu Governor Prof Anyang Nyong’o to be its flag bearer for the gubernatorial seat for the second term.

The delegates unanimously endorsed Prof Nyong’o to run for the Governor in second term having been elected as the second Governor for Kisumu in 2017.

Kisumu Governor in his speech urges the people to register in large number in readiness for the August polls.
