Nyong'o's Opponents promise to work together to improve service delivery in Kisumu

A team of four politicians in Kisumu County who seek to face current Kisumu Governor Prof Anyang Nyong’o have promised to work together to deliver the much needed services the residents of Kisumu yearn for.

This emerged during a meeting at Ahero Multi-Purpose hall in Ahero ward within Kisumu County when the team opposing Kisumu Governor Prof Anyang Nyong'o met elders from the seven Sub counties where they discussed the way forward for a better Kisumu County after the August 9 General election.

In a resolution read by former Speaker of the county Assembly of Kisumu George Onyango Oloo on behalf of other three politicians namely Former Governor Jack Ranguma, the current Kisumu Senator Fred Outa and Chief Administrative Secretary in the Ministry of East African Community Ken Obura, the team have hinted that they have an elaborate plan to approach the forthcoming polls right from ODM Party nomination to the General Elections to be conducted in August 9.

The team has asked the elders to mandate them and give a candidate to vie for the post of Kisumu Governor in ODM Party Ticket which the elders agreed in Unison as they compete with Governor Anyang Nyong’o in the ODM Party primaries and to the General elections in August.

They have also asked the elders to allow them have another candidate in case ODM party nomination won’t be free, Fair, transparent and verifiable to face off with Governor Nyong'o in the August polls.

The third resolution with the elders is about standing together no matter the circumstances and the political terrains during the entire electioneering period.

At Karanda Primary school within Ahero ward where the four held a well-attended public rally and addressed residents of Kisumu County, they castigated Governor Nyong’o accusing him of alleged failure to deliver his manifesto to the people of Kisumu County as he campaigned in 2017.

They alleged the issue of bad status of roads within the rural areas of Kisumu County as well as poor health services coupled with lack of medicines in public health facilities.

They promise to tackle and raise the issue of revenue collection which they claim have deteriorated from a collection of shs 1.4 billion annually during the tenure of former Governor Jack Ranguma to the less then shs 800 Million annually by the current regime.

They have promised to fully support whoever they will nominate as their candidate for the gubernatorial seat in the forthcoming polls to deliver their election pledges to the residents of Kisumu County.

“We the four who are here have promised to remain together and fully support one of us who will be nominated to run for the gubernatorial seat and we undertake to use our resources and might to ensure that candidate becomes the next Governor of Kisumu County,” they say.

The elders’ meeting and the public rally were also attended by the three former County Executive Committee Members who worked under Governor Nyong’o and were sacked namely Dr. John Obiero Ogone, Thomas Ondijo and Richard Ogendo  together with former Chief of Staff Patrick Lumumba Ouya who was equally sacked.

Former Gubernatorial aspirant Prof Gordon Wayumba is also said to have attended the Elders meeting but did not attend the public rally at Karanda Primary school.

During the public rally, the Chief Administrative Secretary in the Ministry of East African Community Ken Obura said he will resign within the next 72 hours to fully concentrate on politics in line with the requirement that those public servants who want to join politics and seek elective posts should resign by this February 8 which is six months to the General Elections slated for August 9 this year.
