Leaders endorse Nyong’o re-election bid as they dismiss his opponents

A SECTION of leaders within Kisumu County have endorsed the County’s Governor Re-election bid in August this year while vehemently dismissing his five opponents who have fronted one of them to face him in the ODM Party primaries in April this year.

The leaders led by the Kisumu Deputy Governor Dr. Mathews Owili said unanimously that the current Kisumu Governor Prof Anyang Nyong’o deserves a second term of five years till the year 2027 when he will serve the two terms enshrined in the constitution of Kenya 2010.

Addressing a congregation at the Power of Jesus around the World Church during today’s Special prayer for the Azimio La Umoja in Kisumu County, Kisumu Deputy Governor Dr. Mathews Owili said his boss has done a lot to the residents of Kisumu since they took leadership after the 2017 polls.

He says the Kisumu Governor’s transformation Agenda is on the right course hence the need to give Nyong’o five more years to complete implementing his manifesto.

Owili says the first thing Nyong’o did as the Governor was to ensure he established proper governance in Kisumu City by creating a city management Board and a city Manager which is now in place.

“The Governor has indeed brought leadership within the City of Kisumu by establishing the City Management Board and having the City Manage and this has been able to unlock the funding for the City through the Kenya Urban Support Programs which has been utilized well to transform the City and its environs,” Dr Owili says

Dr Owili adds that his boss has also been able to clean up part of the the dumpsite at Kachok which has been a big menace to the residents of Kisumu.

Owili while dismissing Nyong’os opponents said they have nothing new to offer to the residents of Kisumu County, adding that Governor Nyong’o should continue with the good work for the residents of Kisumu City.

On his part, Speaker of the County of Kisumu Elisha Jack Oraro have dismissed a team now led by former Governor Jack Ranguma, Kisumu Senator Fred Outa, Former County Assembly Speaker Onyango Oloo, former Chief of Staff at Governor Nyong’o Administration Patrick Ouya and immediate former Chief Administrative Secretary in the Ministry of East African Community Ken Obura.

Oraro has described Nyong’o’s opponents as Biblical wolves in the sheep skin who have come to deceive the electorates of Kisumu County ahead of this year’s polls.

Same sentiments have also been echoed by MCA of Market/Mlimani ward Seth Ochieng Kanga, Former MCA Masogo/Nyang’oma ward Samwel Ong’ou.

Kisumu Central Constituency Parliamentary aspirant Dr Joshua Oron has also supported Nyong’os re-election bid saying he is the best person to continue with the development projects he has initiated as the second Governor of Kisumu County.

Nyong’o’s five opponents last Friday endorsed Ken Obura to battle it out with Governor Nyong’o in the forthcoming ODM Party primaries in April promising to fully back him.

They hinted that should there be alleged shambolic nomination process in ODM Party then they will front another candidate to face Governor Nyong’o in the main General Elections to be held in August.
