Students in Kisumu East begin getting Voters’ cards from IEBC

Students who recently registered for Identity cards in secondary schools within Kisumu East Constituency have started receiving voters’ card from IEBC.

The students were sponsored by aspiring Member of Parliament for Kisumu East Lawyer James Aggrey Mwamu to obtain ID cards ahead of the Polls in August this year.

Addressing the residents of Akado and Siwalo in Kolwa Central, Mwamu said he will liaise with the office of the IEBC in Kisumu East Constituency to carry out the exercise so as to register as voters ahead of the polls.

He says the exercise will be carried out within the IEBC offices of the Kisumu East constituency near Mamboleo show grounds.

Mwamu says a number of student of about 2000 have obtained Identity cards since November last year where he begun supporting the initiative hence needs to be registered as voters and participate in the forthcoming polls slated for August 9 this year.

Mwamu at the same time said he will champion and take care of interests of the youth within the area should he be elected as the next MP of the area.

He says there is need to empower the youth so that they become self-reliance and don’t depend on handout from politicians.

He says supporting the youth through income generating activities is an important thing which he will fully support when he becomes the area’s next Member of Parliament.

The residents have said they will fully support the candidature of Mwamu as the next Member of Parliament for Kisumu East to replace the current Member of Parliament Shakeel Shabir.
