Government plans to deploy military in police uniforms during polls, claims Oburu.

THE National Super Alliance{NASA} Coalition has made a fresh claim that the Jubilee Administration is planning to deploy military personnel into areas perceived as Nasa’s stronghold during the next months polls with unspecified  mission.

A member of Nasa Presidential Campaign team for Nyanza region Dr. Oburu Oginga claims that the military will be deployed in Administration Police uniforms.

Speaking shortly after attending a Church service at St. Stephen’s ACK Cathedral in Kisumu on Sunday, Oburu claims that the Government plans to deploy 150 military personnel each in five Counties in Nyanza region perceived to be Nasa’s strongholds.

Oburu who is also a nominated MP has mentioned Kisumu, Siaya, Migori, Homa Bay and Kisii as the five counties the government plans to make such deployment of the military.

Oburu has wondered why there can be such a deployment of the military to counties during  this electioneering period.

He also wondered whether the Inspector General of the Police Jospeh Boinet has told the Government that there is a shortage of Police officers in such counties which warrants the deployment of the military personnel.

The Nominated MP says the military personnel should be solely for external aggression and internal aggression.

He says Nasa Coalition has enough evidence that the Military is going to be deployed and urged the Chief of the Defense forces General Samwel Mwathethe to clear the air on this matter.

“We are wondering whether  the Inspector General of the Police  has told the Government  that they are overwhelmed as the Police service hence need help so that the military  can be deployed and again the planned deployment of the military is not in order since the military are for external aggression and not internal aggression  Oburu says.

He also wonders whether the matter of election is a matter of external aggression thus warranting military deployment in counties.

He claims  that such kind of the planned deployment of the military to counties perceived to be Nasa’s strongholds is a threat to peace as civilians are going to be threatened when such a move occur.

Oburu sentiments comes barely a few hours after some Nasa’s Co-Principals also talked about the same allegation in Nairobi wanting the Government to clear the air on that matter.
